The popular l’uovo lamps by acclaimed Japanese designer Shigeru Uchida are now available for
outdoor use.

Its grand size and smooth surface brings the iconic presence to the space.
The organic configuration is suitable for the deck or garden use and its soft light distributed through milky polyethylene shell stages warm reception.

Shigeru Uchida is best known for his refined interior design having the theme of the priority of
relationship between the object and the space.
Placing an enlarged egg like light object within a given space, Uchida intended to determine the balance of the spatial composition.

Born in Yokohama in 1943.
As a leading Japanese designer, Uchida has engaged in diverse design projects worldwide from architectural interior, furniture and industrial design to urban planning. His works are held in permanent collections at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Conran Foundation and others. His publications include ‘Bounds of Privacy’, ‘Mojiko Hotel Aldo Rossi Shigeru Uchida’, and ‘Japanese Interior Design-Its Cultural Origin’.
He is a recipient of numerous prestigious awards and honor including the Mainichi Design Award, Education Minister’s Art Encouragement Award and Medal of Purple Ribbon. From 2008, he is President of Kuwasawa Design School, his alma mater.
